The real question of government versus private enterprise is argued on too philosophical and abstract a basis. Theoretically, planning may be good. But nobody has ever figured out the cause of government stupidity and until they do (and find the cure) all ideal plans will fall into quicksand.

In the development world many great ideas never move further then the drawing board.

At Kiungo we like to develop theories and strategies that work. However, something we even like better is to convert those thoughts to actions and put real projects in place. At Kiungo actual results prevail above theoretical possibilities!

And that is the case for developing nations too. Kiungo’s work is to stimulate and facilitate these small entrepreneurs growing their country out of poverty.

In June 2005 Kiungo won the Business in Development Challenge Student Prize with Fish Forward. A program aiming to stimulate small scale farmers to engage in sustainable aquaculture bringing high quality protein on the markets of East Africa.

Kiungo is a young project management, project initiating and, consultancy firm with a strong focus at developing countries.

Our goal is to develop sustainable but viable business opportunities and projects in which every stakeholder, including our ecosystem, will be satisfactory rewarded for their or its input.

These businesses and projects range from sustainable aqua- and agriculture to ICT, health care and trade systems. All these initiatives have in common that they are for a large part locally owned and managed.

To achieve this goal we initiate projects that stimulate private sector development from grass roots to policy level, we partner in such projects or develop and manage them for our customers.
